Use the Model Data dialog to select a solid model and control how the model is displayed within PartMaker.

This dialog is displayed when you :

The following settings are available:

File Type — Select the type of model file.

Note: PartMaker assumes that STL files are metric (dimensions in millimeters).

Path — This field displays the file path of the solid model.

File Name — This field displays the file name of the model.

Browse — Click to display the Select Model File dialog, where you can select the model file you want to use.

Model Properties — Use the options in this area to specify how the model is displayed:

  • Color — The color of the initial stock.
  • Transparency — Enter the transparency of the model. 0 displays a solid model, while 100 displays a fully transparent model.
  • Display Edges — When selected, PartMaker displays the edges of the model as black lines to add more depth to the simulation.

Display Quality — Select one of the following options to specify the display quality of the solid model:

  • Coarse PartMaker displays the solid model using relatively large facets. Select this option if you want the model to load more quickly.
  • Medium PartMaker displays the solid model using medium-sized facets. Select this option to balance the time it takes to load the solid model against the appearance of the model.
  • FinePartMaker displays the solid model using small-sized facets. Select this option to achieve the best appearance of the solid model, but note that this increases the time it takes to load the model, particularly for complex models.

Model Preview — Click to preview how the solid model will appear in the Simulation window.
