Use the Define Custom Shape dialog to define a custom shape in PartMaker. You may want to define a custom shape to:
- use as custom stock if the stock being machined is not one of PartMaker's standard stock types; or
- specify the block for an Advanced Surface Machining group.
To display the Define Custom Shape dialog, select Part Features > Define Custom Shape.
To define a custom shape:
- Create a custom shape in one of the following ways:
- Use PartMaker's CAD mode to draw the geometry of the custom shape. You can draw the geometry in an existing Face window or you may want to create a new Face window.
- Use a solid model file that contains the shape you want to use.
- In CAM mode, select Part Features > Define Custom Shape to display the Define Custom Shape dialog.
- Complete the Define Custom Shape dialog.
- When you have completed the Define Custom Shape dialog, PartMaker adds the shape to the Job Explorer pane.
- You can then assign the new custom shape to:
- Custom stock geometry (for example, using the Chain icon or the Profile icon); or
- An Advanced Surface Machining group by using the Define Block dialog.
