Profile Info dialog - Turning (PartMaker)

Use the Profile Info dialog to view, or change, information about the currently selected element on a profile curve in the Face window.

To display the dialog, click Profile Info and then select an element (line or arc) on the profile curve in the Face window.

The following settings are available for turning operations:

Profile Element Type — This is the type of element you have selected, for example Linear.

Feedrate Definition — Select an option to specify the feed rate for the selected profile element:

  • Process Table — Select to use the feed rate that PartMaker calculates in the Process Table.
  • User Defined — Select to enter a different feed rate to the one in the Process Table.
  • Apply to All Trailing Elements — Click to apply the user-defined feed rate to all the profile elements following the selected element.

Tool Offset — Use these options to specify the tool offset you want to use for the selected profile element. These options are displayed only if the currently selected Post File supports user-defined tool offsets:

  • As Per Tool Data Base — Select to use the tool offset for the finishing operation, as defined in the Tool Data file (.tdb).
  • User Defined — Select to enter a different tool offset for the finishing operation.
  • Apply to All Trailing Elements — Click to apply the user-defined tool offset to all profile elements following the selected element.
Note: Do not change the Tool Offset if you use the Tip Size Compensation for Grooving Tool Option: Output Second Offset option available when using the Profile Group Parameters, Turn dialog for a Contouring cycle that uses a grooving tool or for a Grooving cycle with a General profile shape. When this option is selected, PartMaker automatically calculates the tool offset.

User-Defined Text — Use these options to specify any user-defined text you want to include in the NC Program file for the selected profile element. These options are displayed only if the currently selected Post file supports user-defined text:

  • Text to Insert — Enter the text that you want to insert in the NC Program file.
  • Insert at the Start — Select to insert the text at beginning of the line that corresponds to the selected profile element.
  • Insert at the End — Select to insert the text at the end of the line that corresponds to the selected profile element.
  • Insert as a Separate Block — Select to insert the text on a separate line in the NC Program file. If Insert at the Start is also selected, the new line is inserted before the line corresponding to the selected profile element. If Insert at the End is also selected, the new line is inserted after the line corresponding to the selected profile element.
