When a Groove tool is selected on the Edit Tool or Tool Data dialogs, the following settings are available on the Cutting Data dialog:
Type of Cut — Select whether the tool is used for a roughing or finishing operation.
Feeds and Speeds Values — Select which values you want to use for the feeds and speeds.
- Calculated — When selected, PartMaker calculates values based on the Material file.
- User Defined — When selected, enter your own values into the available fields. It is your responsibility to enter valid feeds and speeds.
Feeds
- Units — For Turning tools, only upr (units per revolution) is available because upm (units per minute) depends on the stock diameter, which is not defined per tool.
- Cutting Feed — Enter the cutting feed rate.
Speeds
- Units — For Turning tools, only fpm (feet per minute) is available because rpm (revolutions per minute) depends on the stock diameter, which is not defined per tool. PartMaker uses mpm (meters per minute) when using metric measurements.
- Spindle Speed — Enter the speed of the spindle.
Notes — Enter any additional information about the cutting data.
Apply — Click to recalculate the values for all units. For Turning tools, this button is unavailable because you cannot change the units used.
