End Mill tool (PartMaker, Cutting Data)

When an End Mill tool is selected on the Edit Tool or Tool Data dialogs, the following settings are available on the Cutting Data dialog:

Type of Cut — Select whether the tool is used for a roughing or finishing operation.

Feeds and Speeds Values — Select which values you want to use for the feeds and speeds.

  • Calculated — When selected, PartMaker calculates values based on the Material file.
  • User Defined — When selected, enter your own values into the available fields. It is your responsibility to enter valid feeds and speeds.

Feeds — Select the units and enter the cutting feed and plunge feed rates.

  • Units — Select the units used to specify the cutting and plunge feed rates.
    • upr — Select if you want to specify the value in units-per-revolution.
    • upm — Select if you want to specify the value in units-per-minute.
  • Cutting Feed — Enter the cutting feed rate.
  • Plunge Feed — Enter a value for the plunge feed rate.

Speeds — Select the units and enter a spindle speed value.

  • Units — Select the units to use to specify the spindle speed.
    • fpm — Select if you want to specify the value in feet-per-minute. PartMaker uses mpm (meters per minute) when using metric measurements.
    • rpm — Select if you want to specify the value in revolutions-per-minute.
  • Spindle Speed — Enter the speed of the spindle.

Notes — Enter any additional information about the cutting data.

Apply — Click to recalculate the units.
