Use the Tool Post Properties, Backworking Slide dialog to view, or change, details of a backworking slide tool post.
To display this dialog, click the Properties button alongside a backworking slide tool post on the Machine Data dialog.
The following settings are available:
Definition — Select how you want to define the backworking slide tool post for the machine:
- Parametric — Select this option to create a parametric representation of the backworking slide from the data contained in the Dimensions fields.
- Solid Model — Select this option to use a solid model to represent the backworking slide. Click the Model Data button to select the model you want to use from the Model Data dialog.
- Components — Click to display the Components dialog, where you can specify which components of the backworking slide are displayed during Full Machine simulation.
Tool Locations — Use these options to choose how the location of the holder on the backworking slide is specified:
- Automatically Calculated — Select this option if you want PartMaker to calculate the location using the data specified in the Dimensions, Slide Orientation and Tool Numbering Direction fields.
- User Defined — Select this option if you want to specify the location, then click the Tool Post Layout button and enter the data in the Tool Post Layout dialog.
Slide Orientation — Specify how the slide is oriented:
- Along X-Axis — Select this option if the backworking slide is oriented along the X-axis.
- Along Y-Axis — Select this option if the backworking slide is oriented along the Y-axis.
Tool Numbering Direction
- Negative — Select this option if tool numbers increase going along the negative Y-axis.
- Positive — Select this option if tool numbers increase going along the positive Y-axis.
Home Position — Specify the coordinates (Xh, Yh, Zh) of the backworking slide at home position.
Dimensions
- Tool Distance (Dt) — Enter the distance between tools on the backworking slide.
- Z-Length(W) — Enter the length of the backworking along Z-Axis.
- Height(H) — Enter the height of the backworking slide.
- Tool Collet Diameter (Cd) — Enter the diameter of the tool collet on the backworking slide.
- Tool Collet Length (Cl) — Enter the length of the tool collet on the backworking slide.
- Shared with Endworking — Select if both endworking and backworking tools are mounted on this slide.
Travel Limits — Specify the coordinates (Xh1, Yh1, Zh1, Xh2, Yh2, Zh2) of the travel limits.
Turning Insert Location — Select the side of the shank on which the turning tool insert sits. Your selection will apply to all turning tools that sit on this tool post. If you want a specific tool to face the opposite direction, set the spindle direction for the tool to ccw in the Tools Data dialog.
