Rechuck (PartMaker)

Use the Rechuck Material Control Process (MCP) for rechucking; that is, the process of re-gripping the bar stock with the main spindle when machining parts that are longer than the stroke of the machine.

Note: The Rechuck MCP is available only in PartMaker/SwissCAM when a guide bushing is used in the .job file.

When you select Rechuck, the following settings are available on the Material Control Process Parameters dialog:

Grip Coord(Zg) — Enter the distance (measured from the face of the bar stock) to where the sub-spindle clamps onto the bar. This is an incremental Z distance.

Pull Distance(Zp) — Enter the distance from where the main spindle travels before it re-clamps onto the part. This is an incremental Z distance.

Process Time — Enter an estimate of the time it takes the sub-spindle to move from its home position at the beginning of the process to when it:

  • finishes rechucking the material; or
  • moves back to its home position at the end of the process.
Tip: Use the Process Table Time Units option on the Preferences dialog to select the unit (Minutes or Seconds) for entering process times.

Position Point (Zr) — Enter the distance that the part sticks out from the guide bushing before being engaged by the sub-spindle. This is an absolute X distance.

Note — Enter any note you want to be associated with the process.

User Data — Click to display the User Data dialog, where you can specify custom data (known as User Data) for the current Post Configuration file.
